Google home and TriggerCMD stop working when Google home is set to French
-
@alain-coderre, bad news. That problem where a person using French language gets an English response. I was hoping Google fixed it. I'm researching it again now.
-
@Russ, does the same hold true for German? Still following the progress with my fingers crossed...
Thx!
-
@dominik-pellkofer, yes, same issue with German. I was able to reproduce it even with a brand new project, so I open a ticket with Google with screnshots. Hopefully that will prove something is wrong, and give them ideas on how to fix it.
-
FYI - I'm still working on this. I've been emailing back and forth with Google tech support every day. For some reason the German and French versions are returning the English version's text.
EDIT 6/8/18: I got this from Google support 3 days ago, so I think we're making progress:

Hi,Our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused. I already have coordinated this with our internal team and it seems this is a bug from our side. They are actively working on this and will keep you posted once I get an update from them. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hi Russ,
Recently it was launched google home in Spanish and "TRIGGERCMD" is what I need to run scripts on my raspberry with Google Home.
If it's possible you can add "Spanish" to the integration list ?Form: "OK Google, ejecuta TRIGGERCMD @trigger en @computer con parametro @params"
Tell me if you need to translate something else?
Thanks, -
@russ Any news on the French support?
-
@alain-coderre, this is the latest from Google tech support. They've acknowledged a problem on their end, but it's still taking a while.

@Alain-Coderre, I finally got my TRIGGERcmd Alexa skill approved for French, in case that helps.
Google just keeps giving me the same apology for the delay (same as I'm giving you basically), so I'm still on hold with getting Google Assistant to work with any other languages. Sorry about this. I could probably get it working if I just started from scratch, so I'm thinking about making a separate Google Assistant action for French. I hate to do that, but at this point I don't know what else to do.
-
@russ Thanks for the update!
-
Any news for this post?
-
At this point if you want to run commands by speaking French, I recommend using Alexa.
Google acknowledges their problem, but they don't seem to know how to fix it, so I don't have an ETA on French language Google Assistant support.
-
@Alain-Coderre and @nick-beau, fyi, Google seems to have corrected whatever was wrong because I tried again recently and I didn't have that problem. I was able to submit both French and German for approval. They both got rejected, but I think I corrected the problems they identified, and I resubmitted. I'm crossing my fingers. Hopefully we'll have German and French working soon.
-
@Alain-Coderre, @nick-beau, great news! Google finally approved French and German!
That clears the way to add Spanish, then Italian too.
-
@buaamm, do you speak Japanese? I'm willing to do it. You're the first to ask about it.
-
@buaamm, so far I've added Japanese support for TRIGGERcmd Smart Home - both Alexa and Google Assistant.
Would you mind testing? Please tell me if I got anything wrong.
